Collin, a nerdy boy who lives in Surrey England is bullied constantly at school and at home by his older brother. Of course Collin's parents think he's making it up whenever he tries to tell them, saying his accusations are outlandish. However one day after being bullied terribly by some school kids he almost caved. He decided to walk home instead of taking the usual bus trip, stopping by a playground near his neighborhood. While sitting on a swing a strange lady appeared beside him offering him a way out by handing him a strange medallion telling him that it would take him to a magical land far away. He scoffed in disbelief, but after using one of her own to disappeared and then reappeared on the top of the swing set, Collin believed her and returned home in higher spirits. Later that night, though, as he and his brother were fighting as usual, the medallion was activated sending them both in.
Being from our world the brothers automatically had magical powers and could tell right away that this place was different. The older had brother longed to rule it, while Collin wanted to enjoy it. Eventually, the older brother stole the medallion from Collin, sending him back to England before taking over the throne and casting the world of Topnufia into shadows. Now Collin must find a way to return and overthrow his brother, but will he have the courage to stand up to him. But hielp comes in mysterous ways and a new mystery is uncovered. If he finds a way back in, he must gather followers of all races to fight against the evil empire his brother has created or all of Topnufia may perish.
